Yesterday

How was yesterday?

Every morning, give the day before a number from 1 to 7. It takes ten seconds. Over weeks and months, the colours show you what your year actually felt like.

Free, and private: nobody sees your days but you.

How it works

  1. 1

    A nudge each morning

A quiet reminder at an hour you pick. If you’ve already rated, it stays quiet.

  2. 2

    Pick a number

1 is awful, 4 is an ordinary day, 7 is one to remember. Add a line or a photo if the day deserves it.

  3. 3

    Watch it fill in

Your calendar turns into a map of the year, and patterns start to show.

Looking back

  • Your calendar three ways: colours, photos, or one line through each month.
  • Insights: your best and worst weekdays, streaks, and how fast you bounce back.
  • A short look back at the start of each month, and a bigger one in January.
  • The same date in earlier years, and search across every note you’ve written.

Out of your way

  • Missed a morning? You have three days to catch up.
  • Add it to your home screen and it works like an app, even offline.
  • Light, dark and paper themes, a colour-blind friendly scale, and English, Polish or Bulgarian.
  • Download everything as CSV or JSON, or delete your account for good, any time.

Where it came from

In 2016 I made Yesterday as a printed poster: a year of days, each with a column of dots from 1 to 7, marked every morning. Ten years on it’s an app, so the poster fills itself in wherever you are.
